Cycling Montréal
Montréal in the Summer can be a beautiful place for cycling with a large number of dedicated cycling paths along the canal, river, and inner city streets. That said, poor road conditions and ongoing, pervasive road work create frustrating obstacles for even the most seasoned cyclist. Montréal roads are a running joke to the locals, and one they'll admit is not all that funny. The back road to Mount Royale, or even up through the park itself, can provide some good climbs with great views. Take a spin around the F1 course on Saint Helen's Island or along the Lachine Canal out to René Lévesque Park for some fun on the flats. If you've got half a day to spend on the bike, taking a spin around the whole Island will give you a real sense of life in Montréal and bring you to some beautifully memorable spots. Check out Bizard Island while you're at it.
